Group Lesson Update
Thank you as always for joining my lessons!
I'd like to make a few changes to how group lessons are run. Over the past few months I've been running group lessons and lectures, and I want to move to a system that makes it easier for everyone to join:)
Changes
① Structure and Price
Until now, lectures were $5 per session and group lessons were $10 per session, run separately — but going forward, everything will be unified into a single 60-minute, $10 lesson.
💡Subscription members will continue to get 1 group lesson free, as before.
② Application Process
Sign-ups will go through a Google Form.
- Choose the topic you'd like to join from the list of themes
- Choose a date you're available
(If scheduling adjustments are needed, I'll reach out individually.)

🌵 Communication Lesson 👈️ Renewed
I've changed this one a bit: the rule is you can only speak Japanese during the lesson. Katakana loanwords are fair game as much as you like, but the practice is all about carrying on conversation within Japanese grammar.
This one's for anyone who just wants to rack up practice volume.
That said, don't worry:)
For beginners, I'll set things up so everyone can join at their own level — for example, scenario-based lessons that use a limited set of words and patterns.
Recommended level: anywhere from having just finished verb sentences (polite-form conjugation of basic verbs) through advanced learners.

Something I keep coming back to as I run lessons: getting a real feel for "using particles" as early as possible is probably the single most important thing for progressing in Japanese.
So I've been thinking about how to actually train that, and as a new project I'm introducing a game-format lesson.
I designed a game built around constructing sentences from a limited set of words and particles.
It's meant to build listening skill as well as speaking, so I hope you'll join!
🌵 Grammar and Expression
A deep-dive into grammar points that don't get fully covered in regular lessons.
Beyond just the grammar itself, this lecture-style lesson also introduces the cultural background behind whatever grammar point comes up each time. Topics get adjusted based on requests, so please do let me know if there's something you'd like covered.

Continuing from last month, open to all levels.
The focus isn't on sounding like a native speaker — it's on the points that matter for understanding Japanese itself.

I know joining a group lesson — with other people around — can feel like a hurdle for some of you, but personally, I think hearing other learners' Japanese in a group lesson, and having a chance to talk with someone other than "Mari," is genuinely useful for learning.
I want to offer lessons that cover what regular one-on-one lessons can't, so I'd love for you to join!❣️
